Advanced Placement Practice Exams

More extra credit...

Please visit the Georgia Virtual School website (www.gavirtualschool.org), then clink on the link at the top that says Registration and create an account.  Once you have verified your e-mail address choose the last option: "Enrolling in an AP Practice Course."  You will then have the opportunity between now and May 8th to take a practice exam.  You will then need to print off your scoring information and bring it to class.  Let's say 10 points on a test for completing this.

AP Elluminate Review Sessions 2009

Good news!  I've been informed that you will all have the opportunity to participate in on-line study sessions for the AP Exam.  These appear to be statewide chat sessions where students will have the chance to ask an AP teacher from the Georgia Virtual School questions and participate in general reviews.  I will be assigning extra credit for participating in these sessions, so please go ahead and make note of the dates and times.

I'm assuming you go to either:

www.gavirtualschool.org/elluminate

or

elluminate.gavirtualschool.org

then use the following Password:

miller

Session 1 = Thursday, March 26th at 7:00pm
Session 2 = Thursday, April 16th at 7:00pm
Session 3 = Thursday, April 30th at 7:00pm
Session 4 = Thursday May 7th at 7:00pm

If you participate in any of these, make sure to print out the chat box so I can give you extra credit.  More details to follow.

Geography Activity in the Courtyard

Finally, some nice weather!  Students got to work outside this week as we discussed and plotted the "scramble" for Africa.

Megan, Chiara, Patrick and Charlie hard at work.

Kelly and Nitisha in deep thought as Lizzie directs Drew.

Too much fun with Photoshop.

Will and Savannah have a perma-smile.  Ebeth works away.

Christina, Zach, Alex, Josh and Karina enjoy the weather... and imperialism in Africa.

Socialism vs. Communism

You're textbook doesn't make the distinction between socialism and communism very clear, so here is a link that might help out.

Unit 4 Study Session

Thought this picture was quite appropriate.

Alright, Dr. Stueve has given us permission to hold our study session on Friday, March 13th (the teacher workday). At least 30 people must sign-up (that means just leave a comment on this post letting me know that you're attending) for the session to occur. Remember, I'm willing to put forth the same effort as you (In other words, if you aren't willing to take time out of your schedule to attend the study session, then I won't hold it).

As usual, you are welcome to bring food (especially sausage bread... yum). The session will run from 10am until 2pm. As of now I don't have a movie planned, but we can discuss something in class this week. Remember, this test will cover chapters 21 - 27. Be prepared.
