Graham, Joey and Mitchell Teach the Class

Since I thought I might be out Friday, I had Graham, Joey and Mitchell prepare to teach the class.  I ended up being at school, but they went ahead with the lesson and did a great job teaching about new nations in Africa, the modernization of previous African states and Europe's "scramble" for African colonies.

Chapter 24 Guided Reading

Class Thursday

Just a reminder. We'll be outlining the last section of chapter 23 in class on Thursday because of registration. Since I know outlines can be a bore, you are all more than welcome to bring in food and beverage to make the process more enjoyable. Let's say this, if you bring in food from around the world (somewhere other than the U.S.) you can earn 5 extra credit points on a homework assignment. Yum!

AP Night Helpers

So... AP Night is coming up on Tuesday at 7:00pm (all of you should be attending anyways) and I could really use your help!  I need at least four or five volunteers to help promote the class.  Please leave a comment if you would be willing to come and hangout at the AP World booth for about 30 minutes.  It would be nice for parents and prospective students to hear about the class from a student's perspective.  Also, it would be really beneficial if you could bring in any former work that you are proud of.  Thanks in advance.  -- Mr. B

D.B.Q. Alert!

Alright guys, we have a problem...  I've spent the past few days grading D.B.Q.s and I'm finding that almost everyone has failed.  As this is a test grade, I'm thinking you will all need some chance for recovery.  So, here's what we're going to do.  I will hand back D.B.Q.s in class Tuesday (not all will have been graded).  I will then give you the basic outline I want your D.B.Q. to follow (so that everyone should easily be able to earn at least all 7 D.B.Q. points).  If you feel comfortable with the way your D.B.Q. is you may turn it back in on Tuesday and I'll have yours graded by Wednesday, otherwise you may take home your essay, rewrite it and turn it in by Friday in which case you'll get it back in class the following Monday.

If your D.B.Q. has not been graded and you would like me to review it with you, or you would just like to review why you scored what you did, I will be available during the following times in my classroom:

Wednesday morning: 7:30am - 8:25am

Wednesday afternoon: 3:35pm - 5:00pm

Thursday morning: 7:30am - 8:25am

Also, if you would like to come in Tuesday morning to go over your D.B.Q. leave a comment and I will make sure that I have looked it over.

Reminder!

Tuesday is going to be a busy day!  Remember, if you'd like to see your graded D.B.Q. from the Unit 3 Test, come to the room at 8:00am.  Also, signed progress reports will be due in class on Tuesday (5th period, your correct socratic seminar grades should be up on Parent Connect sometime this weekend).  Don't forget to complete the primary source activity on child labor that was distributed Thursday in class and finally, extra credit from both the Princeton Review Booklet (part 2) and Marie Antoinette are due on Tuesday.  Busy, busy.
